Dear PEJU Friends and Family,
September is a magical time here in Napa Valley—the sun dips a little lower, mornings carry a fresh crispness, and the vineyards buzz with anticipation. Each day, our team walks the rows, tasting berries and watching for that perfect balance of ripeness and flavor. Harvest is nearly upon us, with our estate vines close to ready. In fact, Winemaker Sara Fowler welcomed the season on August 18th with the first load of Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

We’re still glowing from the wonderful evening we shared with so many of you at our Roaring 20s Decades Dinner on July 26th. It was such a joy to connect over great food, beautiful wines, and shared stories—and a fun time was truly had by all. Moments like these remind us how fortunate we are to have such a vibrant and engaged club family.
This month’s club selection captures the essence of the season—holding onto summer’s golden warmth while offering a first glimpse of fall’s richness. Whether you’re opening a bottle for an al fresco dinner or saving it for a cool, cozy night, we hope these wines bring a bit of Napa magic to your table.

If your travels bring you to wine country, we’d love to welcome you back to the estate—there’s truly nothing like Napa during harvest. And if you’re savoring PEJU wines from afar, we hope you’ll share your #PEJUwinery moments with us on social media. We love seeing how and where you enjoy your wines.

As we prepare for harvest, we’re filled with gratitude for you—our Club PEJU members. Your
ongoing support makes everything we do possible and inspires us to keep crafting wines that reflect our land, our legacy, and the love we pour into every bottle.

With deepest appreciation,

Ariana, HB, and Lisa Peju

Back in 1987, Tony Peju set out to craft a wine that could bring everyone to the table—a fresh, chilled red-and-white blend that white wine drinkers would love just as much as red fans. The result was Province, now a PEJU favorite for its bright notes of strawberry-rhubarb pie, hibiscus, raspberry, and a zesty lime twist. Fun, fresh, and seriously versatile, Province is made for spicy foods, light bites, and good times all year long. As Herta (HB) Peju likes to say, “Province is the wine for all foods and all moods.”

Our 2024 Napa Valley Chardonnay opens with graceful aromas of nectarine, lemon rind, and delicate oak spice, unfolding with whispers of crème brûlée and toasted hazelnut. On the palate, it glides with a refined balance—bright citrus and green apple lifted by vibrant acidity yet softened by a silken texture and gentle minerality. Ariana Peju especially loves this wine for the way it strikes harmony between freshness and richness—equally delightful to sip today or to watch blossom with time in the cellar.

In 2021, Tony Peju planted a small block of French Colombard behind the family home, a tender tribute to HB. This vibrant white wine captures both Rutherford sunshine and a family love story in every sip, with aromas of tangerine, lime zest, and peach drifting from the glass. On the palate, bright citrus and green apple mingle with melon and a kiss of guava, lifted by crisp acidity and a mineral edge. Joyful and refreshing, it’s the perfect match for oysters by the sea, grilled shrimp, citrusy salads, or simply toasting to love.

Bottle $45 | Case $432

Our 2022 PEJU Merlot is a vibrant Napa Valley red that highlights the varietal’s elegance and depth. Bright and lifted, it opens with aromas of dark chocolate, spiced berries, wet stones, and roasted coffee beans, accented by hints of red licorice and forest herbs. The medium- to full-bodied palate is vivid and juicy, showcasing ripe plum, black cherry, and blueberry layered with subtle oak, crushed stones, and a whisper of ground spice. A plush mouthfeel and balanced acidity carry through to fine, slightly chalky tannins, while a touch of cedar lingers on the bright, racy finish. Polished and energetic, this Merlot reflects the softer style that HB Peju has always loved, making it delicious now and certain to evolve gracefully over the next 5–7  years.

Our 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold yet graceful expression of Napa Valley, a style Lisa Peju especially loves for its power and sense of place. Aromas of cedar, sandalwood, and sassafras mingle with ripe dark berries, Bing cherry, and a hint of cracked pepper. A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot, it was aged for 19 months in 40% new French and American oak, adding warmth and spice. On the palate, juicy red and black fruits are framed by firm, mineral-rich tannins, giving the wine both polish and structure. Smooth, poised, and wonderfully detailed, this Cabernet is approachable now yet will reward patience, aging beautifully for 5–7 years.

Crafted exclusively for Club PEJU, our 2022 ‘The Farm’ is a harmonious blend that balances richness and freshness, opening with aromas of dark cherry, cassis, and blackberry layered with cocoa and cedar. On the palate, bright red currant and plum add lift, while fine-grained tannins and a touch of graphite provide depth and structure, finishing with a hint of warm spice. “I love working with Sangiovese,” says Winemaker Sara Fowler. “It always reminds me of Italy, one of my favorite places in the world. Its vibrancy brings an Old World charm to this wine, beautifully complementing the power and polish of Cabernet Sauvignon.” The result is a blend that is both inviting today and destined to age gracefully over the next 5–7  years.

Bottle $81 | Case $864

A Club PEJU exclusive, ‘The Beginning’ is a bold expression of 100% Petit Verdot—one of Tony Peju’s favorite varietals. Bursting with aromas of violets and deep blue fruits, this full-bodied wine shows off firm, confident tannins that give it both power and poise. Dark fruit flavors mingle with a hint of flint, adding intrigue with every sip. While it’s deliciously bold today, this wine is built to go the distance, aging beautifully for 5–7 years as it softens and reveals even more layers of character. A true celebration of Petit Verdot at its most vibrant and enduring.

Crafted exclusively for Club PEJU and bursting with aromas of blueberry and boysenberry jam, this Right Bank–inspired blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc is all about plush fruit wrapped in elegant structure. Firm tannins frame layers of dark fruit and savory spice, leading into a long, graceful finish. It’s rich, vibrant, and a little bit cheeky—exactly why Lisa Peju calls it her favorite Wine Club wine. She loves opening a bottle on pizza night or pairing it with truffle pasta, proving that this wine is just as fun and versatile as it is sophisticated. While irresistible now, it will also reward patience, evolving beautifully over the next 5–7 years.

A Club PEJU exclusive, our 2022 ‘The Old Victorian’ is a testament to Sara Fowler’s blending ability, showcasing a delicacy while striking a perfect balance, making it a timeless Bordeaux Blend. On the nose, notes of violet entice, hinting at the elegance to come. As it caresses the palate, a smooth and luscious profile emerges, with flavors of dark chocolate and fresh plum taking the spotlight. The wine’s juiciness is undeniable, while a subtle cigar spice characteristic adds depth and intrigue. While delicious now for its plush fruit and elegance, this wine will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 5–7years.

Bottle $81 | Case $864

A true PEJU classic and fan favorite, Fifty/Fifty was created by HB herself and (you guessed it!) is an even split of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Bursting with bold dark fruits like blackberry, currant, and plum, this wine is silky, smooth, and just a little bit sassy. Merlot brings a lush texture while Cab adds power and structure—together they’re the ultimate dream team. The 2022 vintage is rich, flavorful, and ready to enjoy now, or you can tuck it away and let it evolve beautifully over the next 8–10 years if you’ve got the patience!

Bottle $117 | Case $1,248

91 points, James Suckling

From the very first sip, this wine shines with a jammy richness that makes its bold personality impossible to miss. Velvety tannins wrap around juicy layers of blackberry and plum, while a touch of baking spice adds just the right amount of cozy warmth. Like one of Tony’s beloved “stained glass wines,” it’s all about the beauty of flavors coming together—each sip offering a new shade, a new layer, a new surprise. Playful yet sophisticated, it’s a wine that keeps you coming back for more and will continue to evolve beautifully over the next 8–10 years.

Every year, PEJU winemaker Sara Fowler shakes things up with her famous barrel experiment, playing with different coopers, grains, and toasting styles to see how oak shapes a wine’s personality. For the 2022 vintage, she went big—selecting 20 coopers and trying more than 50 barrel styles before aging the wine for 18 months in 60% new French oak. The result? A polished, generous red that shows off juicy red and black fruit layered with hints of cola and sweet spice. Smooth, finely textured tannins give it structure without weighing it down, making it both stylish and seriously sippable. Enjoy it now for its vibrant energy, or tuck it away to age gracefully for the next 8–10 years.

Bottle $108 | Case $1,152

91 points, Decanter

Our 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a lush, approachable expression that still carries the structure to age gracefully. Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, and ripe plum lead into a rich palate framed by firm yet rounded tannins. Hints of anise, bay leaf, and earthy spice bring depth, while 26 months in mostly new French and American oak add polish and a touch of warmth. Medium- to full-bodied, it lingers with a velvety finish of dark fruit and subtle oak. And of course, it wouldn’t be Rutherford without that famous “dusty” character—Lisa Peju’s favorite hallmark of the estate and the part she loves most in every glass. Enjoy now, or let it evolve gracefully over the next 5–10 years.
