The Tower

Peju Tower

One of the tallest and most unique buildings in the Napa Valley. Designed by Southern California architect Calvin Straub.

  • The tower is 50 ft. in height
  • It is surrounded by a reflective pool and fountains
  • Exterior materials are stucco and stone
  • The roof is weathered copper and is topped with a unicorn weather vane
  • Posts and beams were salvaged from old farms in the Midwest
  • The hand-carved front door depicts a scene from Greek mythology
  • The interior is 1600 sq. feet and features a mezzanine
  • Cabinets, tasting bar and woodwork are made of Brazilian cherry
  • Floor tiles are imported from Turkey
  • Stair rails are artisan-made of copper and steel
  • The room is lit by a 22' x 10' chandelier made of seven 2' x 2' antique copper fixtures
  • The centerpiece 10' x 20' antique stained glass window created in 1906 depicts the three Greek graces in a beautiful garden

Envisioned by Tony Peju even before he purchased the property, the 50 foot tower was designed by Southern California architect Calvin Straub in 1980-81, and its rendering has graced the label of every estate-bottled Peju wine.

Resembling a French Provincial tower, the structure encloses 1600 square feet with mezzanine and is built from stucco and stone. Posts and beams are made of lumber salvaged from old Midwestern barns and the building's 10' x 20' stained glass window was created in 1906.
