On the heels of National Chardonnay Day, we spent time bottling our 2014 Chardonnay this week in preparation of its upcoming release.
The 2014 growing season can be described as early, exciting and excellent. Last winter was one of the driest in California’s history, resulting in about half of the normal amount of rain for Napa Valley. However, rains in late February and early March provided the vines with a nice, long drink right before bud break occurred. This year’s harvest was disrupted by the August 24 earthquake, but our grapevines and fruit did not sustain any damage. Overall, it was a demanding but fruitful season.
Peju’s Chardonnay is grown at the Persephone ranch, located in the heart of Pope Valley.
