It’s not officially summer at Peju Province Winery until our Teddy Bear Sunflowers start to bloom, and that time has come! Our first flower bloomed early last week, and now there are dozens in full bloom. Peju’s head gardener, Javier, planted 800 Teddy Bear Sunflowers this year in preparation for his third competition at the Napa Town and Country Fair.
In 2014, Javier won first place, a gold medal and Best in Show for his Teddy Bear Sunflowers and in 2013, he brought home Best in Show, Best in Division and first place.
Javier is also competing with chayotes that he grew, which are similar to potatoes. We are wishing Javier the best of luck as he represents Peju Province Winery!
The Teddy Bear Sunflowers are a sight to be seen, so make sure you make a trip to Peju this summer to see them in full bloom!
