Winter Mulled Wine

Method

In a large pot, zest and juice the orange. Add in the remaining ingredients and cook over high heat, stirring regularly until honey dissolves. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce to low heat and simmer until flavors have melded, about 15-20 minutes. Pour through a mesh strainer, garnish with cinnamon stick and serve in your favorite mug or cup.

Ingredients

  • 1 large orange
  • 1 pinch of fresh nutmeg
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 20 whole black peppercorns
  • 6 juniper pods
  • 1 bottle of Province (or your favorite red wine, blends work well)
  • 1/4 c honey
  • 1/3 c bourbon
  • Cinnamon stick (plus additional for garnishes)
