Peju Art Exhibit - Marsha Taylor

Marsha Taylor

Marsha Taylor was born in Montana but has lived in Sacramento, California for most of her life. She grew up in a home where her art was nurtured. Her great grandfather, Calvin L. Squires, was a dedicated artist whose paintings hung in museums. His 10 foot oil painting of Rebecca at the Well that hung in the local church always inspired her.

In 1978 she saw her first Gary Pruner work and life would never be the same. Mr. Pruner, an internationally known artist and teacher, became her mentor and friend. Thus began her journey of fifteen years, studying with a master. He took her natural abilities and taught her how to channel that talent, first in watercolor then oils.  What she loved was the study of composition, design, color theory and drawing which is prominent in her work. Her love of photography, especially cemetery art and mannequin heads, has taken her around the world and she often incorporates these images into her work.
